It's An Affair

Suddenly I woke up one day and realized everyone I know is getting married! Between showers, bachelorettes and weddings it seems like the shopping hasn’t stopped (or I haven’t at least). From the many discussions with friends it seems like everyone is having a hard time lately finding what to wear with a lot of sites offering pre-orders instead of having the items in stock. Some of my biggest tips are:

  1. Start looking way early!

    • With sites like Moda Operandi items from trunk shows can take anywhere between 4-5 months to ship out. Especially after the pandemic a lot of productions and manufactures are having delays. Whenever I shop I check if there is a filter for ‘available now’ that way I don’t fall in love with an option that isn’t available.

  2. Google is your best friend.

    • Always search the brand and style name in google. I saw a lot of sites had a dress marked for pre-order but it was available on a department store’s website. So always do your research.

  3. Don’t let the pressure get the best of you!

    • At the end of the day if you aren’t loving what’s out there, shop your closet, friends or family. I always get swept into wanting something new and you definitely shouldn’t feel that way. Look at what you might have first or keep in mind when you are shopping that it’s best to go with simple styles that you can change up the accessories and shoes to dress up or down.

I almost purchased a sequin gown for an upcoming wedding and while it was gorgeous the sales person said “yes it’s gorgeous but you’ll wear it once and say never again since it’s too memorable”. Guess what…. he was right! Sometimes simple and classic designs are the way to go. Classic never goes out of style.
