NYFW 2017

This past New York Fashion Week will definitely be one to remember. The week was filled with the best weather, great celebrity sightings, some risk-taking fashion, and some very memorable musical performances. My week started with one of my favorite designers, Pamella Roland. It was such an honor to be invited to attend this year. I was actually freaking out and jumping with excitement because I have always been obsessed with her gowns for years. I finally got to witness Pamella’s extraordinary talent for making gowns look as if they were floating down the runway and it was everything I had dreamed it would be.

My week took a turn from heavenly to sinful because let’s be honest you never know what you are going to get at fashion week. This year’s Philip Plein show did just that. What started with a burlesque dance by Dita Von Teese was just the first act to a musical show. Its runway was full of familiar faces; Adriana Lima, Irina Shayk, Jasmine Sanders (Golden Barbie) and Stella Maxwell. But it was Teyana Taylor who slayed the runway and had everyone out of her seat. If the models weren’t enough of an excitement, Future performed as they walked. For the after party, Nicki Minaj took the runway for a performance of her own. Among the crowd of onlookers were Erica Jayne (my personal favorite from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) Fifth Harmony, Paris Hilton, 50 Cent, Scott Disick, Bella Thorne and Ne-Yo to name a few. I hope you enjoyed my wild insta stories from that night.

Before I wrap up my fashion week experience, I have to take a second and reflect on what fashion week means to me. The first fashion show I had ever attended was in 2015 because I was an intern and became a seat filler. Not bad when it was front row and next to Uma Thurman. I had even waved to Eva Chen (who at the time was 8 months pregnant with her daughter Ren) sitting across the runway from me. After I experienced my first runway I knew that I loved it and I never wanted to leave that chair. Which is why I had come up with the idea of launching my blog 2 years later with a hope that someday I would be invited to these shows and not just as a seat filler. I always go back to that excitement, whether it’s the front row or standing in the back. There is a real adrenaline rush and pure joy when you see models strut down the runway with music that can move you and clothes that you can only dream of owning someday. Before you know it months and months of hard work is over within a few minutes but those memories seem to last a lifetime.
